Behavioral Health Department

MISSION:
The mission of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe Behavioral Health (FMIT BH) is to offer outpatient mental health/substance abuse assessment and intervention to Native American children, adolescents, adults and their families who experience mental disorders, behavioral problems and alcohol/substance abuse problems.

SERVICES AVAILABLE:

  • Provide Substance Abuse/Mental Health Assessment, Treatment and Follow-Up Services
    1. Provide individual, marital, group and family therapy for eligible clients at the FMIT BH offices
    2. Provide face-to-face crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment services during daytime hours at the FMIT BH offices or other local agencies/hospitals
    3. Provide mental health/substance abuse services including assessment, evaluation and education to patients in the FMIT Medical Clinic
    4. Provide assessment or evaluation of individuals in the custody of the FMIT jail at the FMIT BH offices; or assist the tribal Law Enforcement with setting up assessments or evaluation at the other detection facilities
    5. Establish and/or maintain mental health/substance abuse records
    6. Provide case consultation to Tribal Law Enforcement, FMIT Courts, Social Services and other involved local agencies/hospitals
    7. Make referrals to various community facilities for more intensive care when necessary
  • Providing Substance Abuse/Mental Health Education, Prevention Services and Community Consultation Services
    1. Provide consultation to teachers and local school administrative personnel on mental health problems in the schools, community or at the FMIT BH offices
    2. Provide in-service workshops to the FMIT BH staff and other FMIT agencies on various professional issues
    3. Provide in-service workshops to FMIT Medical staff on substance abuse/mental health issues related to providing medical care
    4. Design and implement various workshops for tribal agencies when available and appropriate
    5. Provide policy-oriented consultation to various tribal departments and community agencies with regard to mental health related issues
    6. Inform the community about services available through FMIT BH
  • Providing Referrals to Other Treatment Programs and Residential Programs
    1. Provide consultation to teachers and local school administrative personnel on mental health problems in the schools, community or at the FMIT BH offices
    2. Provide in-service workshops to the FMIT BH staff and other FMIT agencies on various professional issues
    3. Provide in-service workshops to FMIT Medical staff on substance abuse/mental health issues related to providing medical care

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Patient must provide proof of Tribal Enrollment or Descendency in a Federally Recognized Tribe
