MISSION:
The Fort Mojave Indian Tribe Domestic Violence Program (FMIT DVP) primary purpose is to Stop Violence Against Indian Women within the Fort Mojave Community, located on and off the Fort Mojave Reservation.
The FMIT Domestic Violence Program policies prohibit harassment based on race, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity (or expression), religion, and national origin.
Domestic Violence is a serious crime against our people and the FMIT DVP seeks to provide the victims of domestic violence the maximum protection from abuse with victim advocacy services, and the Batterer’s Re-education program, for perpetrators.
The FMIT DVP in accordance with the unique and distinct attributes and values of our culture, find that Domestic Violence is contrary to the interests of our people, our traditional values, well-being and growth.
In order to promote a healthy community we need to understand and embrace our traditional teachings of familial relationships which do not condone violence.
Domestic Violence detrimentally affects generations of members of our community and comes in many forms of abuse, including, but not limited to, physical, verbal, psychological, spiritual, emotional and sexual.
The FMIT DVP seeks to promote the healing of families, where possible, and to promote Mohave cultural teachings and traditional values so as to nurture non-violence and respect for women.

- Crisis Intervention Advocacy Service (On-Call: 24 /7)
- Direct Victim Service Program
- Transportation to Hospital, Shelter or other Safe Shelter Alternatives
- Follow-up Advocacy Counseling, Court Orientation & Escort
- Transportation to DES, Social Security Offices, Education, Daycare, Employment and Tribal and Non-Tribal Victim Service Providers
- Emergency Food, Utility, Rental and Daycare Assistance
- Assistance with filing of Orders of Protection
- Monthly Women’s Support Group Meetings
- Victim Empowerment Education and Counseling
- Traditional Housing Assistance
- Clothing, Household Goods, Toys, Strollers and Car Seats are available
- Monthly Domestic Violence Newsletter
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Must be a Tribal Member of a Federally Recognized Tribe
- Must be Eighteen (18) years of age
- Eligible for Enrollment
- Non-Native, with a domestic partner who is Eligible for Enrollment or a Tribal Member
